Remote Ramp Entry Lane
Remote Ramp Exit Lane
The toll facility consists of a control building, a 10-lane main-line toll plaza & 2 remote ramps. All lanes are gated and utilise CEN standard (5.8 GHz) Electronic Toll Collection and state-of-the-art Violation Enforcement System (VES), including Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR).
All lanes incorporate a Mifare© proximity smart card system as an alternative method of payment. Automatic Coin Machines on the mainline plaza incorporate receipt printers, smartcard proximity readers and 4-vault tunnel vault units. The ramp lanes utilise Automatic Coin Machines (ACMs) and ticket-issuing devices to ensure only patrons using the tunnel need pay a toll. This innovative solution was devised specifically for the Herrentunnel project to provide a solution to a unique circumstance.
In addition to the above hardware, Transtoll provided a Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) System, a Voice & Video Intercom System and an Incident Capture System (ICS). Transtoll provided its full software suite for this project, which includes lane, toll management, toll supervisory, toll accounting, ETC account management and equipment maintenance systems.
The road opened to tolling on 7th September 2005.
